MapInfo
Mailing Lists
There are several online mailing lists that serve the needs of the MapInfo community. On the lists, you'll see everything from tech tips, to conferences, to new product information.
To sign up for a mailing list, send a "subscribe" command to the server address, but send your messages to the list address. You can also send the "help" command to the server address to get lots of details on all the neat things the server can do for you.
Here are two mailing list examples.
To get a list and description of all the commands that the GIS-L server offers:
  • Send e-mail to listserver@idi.net
  • Put the word help in the message body.
To subscribe to the list:
  • Send e-mail to listserver@idi.net (or listserver@urisa.org)
  • Put subscribe GIS-L Your Name in the message body
For majordomo servers (look for the word majordomo in the server address), you do not put your name on the subscribe line, but you can put an e-mail address if you like. Each server has its own quirks. If in doubt, send the help command and wait for the reply. Save the subscription confirmation notice that the servers send you when you sign up. You'll need it if you ever decide to unsubscribe.

You will be able to get on any list below. We suggest you subscribe to lists one at a time. GIS-L generates a lot of traffic. MAPINFO-L is doing a pretty brisk business now too.

Note: If your browser has been configured to send e-mail, you subscribe to or get help from any of the mailing lists below by clicking on the Server address, which is highlighted. When the e-mail window pops up, fill in the message box with the appropriate subscription or help line, and send the message.
